Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Rivena LLC (United States), operating as "Rivena," collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you use rivena.app, create a Rivena account, participate in the community, register for tournaments, or connect third-party services. "Rivena," "we," "us," and "our" refer to Rivena LLC.

Some sections below describe features that are currently available in the Rivena product. Where a feature (for example, in-product data export or automated deletion tooling) is not yet available, this Policy states that the request should be sent to rivena.app@gmail.com. Statements are deliberately narrow — Rivena will not describe practices, retention periods, or controls until they are actually implemented in the product.

1. Scope

This Policy applies to information processed through the Rivena services. It does not govern third-party websites or services that Rivena does not control, including Discord, game publishers, tournament organizers' external websites, and other external links. Those services maintain their own privacy practices.

2. Your acknowledgement

By creating a Rivena account, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy. Your use of Rivena is also governed by the Terms of Service. Where applicable law requires consent for a specific activity, Rivena will request that consent separately. Acknowledgement of this Policy does not waive privacy rights provided by applicable law.

3. Information we collect

A. Information you provide

Rivena collects information you provide when you:

  • Create or verify an account (email address, display name, password).
  • Build or update a player profile (username, display name, avatar, Marvel Rivals rank and peak rank, role preferences, hero preferences, region, platform, availability, communication preferences, biography).
  • Optionally connect Discord (Discord username, Discord user ID, avatar) or link a Marvel Rivals game account when the game-linking feature is enabled.
  • Create or join groups, Looking Now boards, sessions, or tournament teams; register for tournaments; submit invitations, teammate requests, Ready Checks, join requests, or reports.
  • Send messages through direct messages, group chat, board chat, or tournament team chat.
  • Make a donation through the third-party payment processor used by Rivena.

B. Information generated through your use

Rivena records activity performed through the services, including connections, favorites, blocks, group memberships and applications, Looking Now board participation and outcomes, invitations, teammate requests, session RSVPs, tournament registrations and milestones, notification delivery status, and moderation actions.

C. Technical information

Rivena and its hosting provider receive limited technical information typical of any web service, including device and browser type, operating system, session identifiers, IP address, approximate location derived from IP, timestamps, referring pages, error and security logs, and interactions with Rivena features. Google Analytics is currently disabled on rivena.app pending implementation of optional analytics consent controls; no gtag.js script is loaded, no page_view events are sent, and no Google Analytics identifiers are created or read. D. Information from connected services

When you connect Discord, Rivena receives your Discord user ID, username, global name, and avatar to associate your Discord identity with your Rivena account and to deliver enabled notifications. Rivena does not receive your Discord password. If a Marvel Rivals game-account link is enabled and you provide a UID, Rivena may retrieve limited publicly available profile information from the configured provider; other users see only the visibility level you select.

E. Tournament referral information

When you enter Rivena through an organizer's tracked tournament link (for example, an official tournament page with a ?ref=parameter), Rivena records the referring organizer, tournament, referral code, an anonymous referral session identifier, and your onboarding and registration milestones. This information helps guide users through registration, prevents users from becoming lost during onboarding, and provides organizers and administrators with accurate registration reporting.

4. Community-visible information

Some information is intended to be visible to other users. Depending on your settings and use of the services, this may include your display name and username, avatar, rank and peak rank, role and hero preferences, region, platform, availability and communication preferences, biography, groups you belong to, Looking Now activity, tournament participation, organizer role, compatibility indicators, and an activity indicator.

Messages are scoped to the feature that produced them:

  • Direct messages are available to the sender and the recipient.
  • Group chat is available to authorized members of that group.
  • Looking Now board chat is available to current authorized participants of that board.
  • Tournament team chat is available to authorized members of that team.
  • Tournament organizers receive only tournament communications and registration information that the relevant feature intentionally provides to them; organizers do not receive unrelated direct messages, unrelated group chat, or messages from boards or teams they are not part of.
  • Rivena moderators and other authorized personnel may access or preserve content only where reasonably necessary to investigate a report, protect user safety, prevent fraud or abuse, maintain security, enforce platform rules, comply with law, or provide requested support.

Do not include information in your profile or messages that you do not want the intended recipients to receive.

5. How we use information

  • Create and maintain accounts and authenticate users.
  • Operate player profiles and compatibility recommendations.
  • Support connections, direct messages, groups, Looking Now boards, sessions, and Ready Checks.
  • Operate tournaments and registrations, provide organizer tools, and preserve tournament referral context through onboarding.
  • Send account, security, community, and tournament notifications by email and — where enabled — deliver Discord notifications.
  • Measure feature usage, troubleshoot errors, prevent fraud, spam, harassment, and abuse, enforce the Terms of Service and community standards, investigate reports, and protect tournament integrity.
  • Comply with legal obligations and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

Compatibility scores and recommendations are estimates intended to help users discover suitable teammates. They do not make decisions that produce legal, employment, credit, housing, insurance, or similarly significant effects.

6. How we disclose information

Other users. Profile and community information is disclosed according to the feature you use and your visibility settings.

Tournament organizers. When you participate in a tournament, the applicable organizer may receive information reasonably required to manage the event, including your username, profile, platform, rank, role, team, registration status, eligibility information, and communications related to the tournament. Organizers must not use Rivena-provided information for unrelated advertising, resale, harassment, or unauthorized profiling.

Service providers. Rivena uses vendors that provide hosting, database, authentication, storage, transactional email delivery, error monitoring, and payment processing. These providers process information only as necessary to provide their services to Rivena and subject to their contractual obligations. The current primary providers include Supabase (database, authentication, storage), Cloudflare Workers via Lovable (hosting and delivery), Lovable Emails / Resend (transactional and authentication email delivery from notify.rivena.app), Stripe (payment processing for donations, when used), and Discord (only when you connect Discord or a feature explicitly delivers to Discord). Google Analytics is currently disabled and is not receiving any data from Rivena. This list will be updated as providers change.

Legal, safety, and enforcement. Rivena may disclose information where reasonably necessary to comply with law or legal process, respond to lawful government requests, investigate fraud or security incidents, protect users or the public, enforce our agreements, address harassment or abuse, protect tournament integrity, or establish or defend legal claims.

Business transfers. If Rivena is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, information may be disclosed as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.

With your direction. Information may be disclosed when you direct us to do so, including when you use an explicit share feature to post a board, group, or tournament to Discord or another third-party service.

7. Discord and external communications

Rivena may send messages through Discord when you enable Discord integration and applicable notification preferences, or when a feature expressly includes Discord delivery (for example, an explicit "Share to Discord" action or an organizer-configured announcement channel). Routine private board or group chat messages are not posted to public Discord channels. Discord independently processes information under its own terms and privacy policy.

8. Selling and targeted advertising

Rivena does not sell personal information for money and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those concepts are defined by applicable privacy law. If these practices ever change, Rivena will update this Policy, provide legally required notice, and offer applicable opt-out choices before beginning the new practice.

9. Cookies and similar technologies

Rivena currently uses only browser storage and cookies that are strictly necessary to operate the services:

  • Authentication session storage used by the Supabase auth client, kept in browser localStorage, to keep you signed in.
  • A short-lived signed tournament referral cookie used to preserve organizer attribution through the sign-in and email-verification round-trip.

Google Analytics is currently disabled: no gtag.js script loads, no page_view events are sent, and no Google Analytics identifiers are created or read. See the Cookie Policy for details. If Rivena introduces optional analytics or marketing technologies in the future, they will be described in the Cookie Policy, and where legally required, consent will be obtained before activation.

10. Data retention

Rivena retains information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including providing the services, maintaining security, preventing abuse, resolving disputes, preserving tournament integrity, complying with legal obligations, and enforcing agreements. Retention periods depend on the type of information and the reason it is processed. Deleting an account may not immediately remove backup copies, security logs, fraud-prevention records, financial transaction records, tournament integrity records, information required by law, or content needed to preserve the integrity of conversations involving other users. Where retention remains necessary, Rivena limits use of the retained information and de-identifies it where reasonably feasible.

11. Security

Rivena uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, and disclosure, including row-level security policies in the Rivena database, TLS in transit, and access controls for staff and organizer tooling. No internet service, transmission method, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. You are responsible for protecting your login credentials and should notify Rivena promptly of suspected unauthorized access.

12. International processing

Rivena and its service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Those countries may have privacy laws different from the laws where you live. Where required, Rivena will use recognized safeguards for international transfers.

13. Your privacy choices

Depending on your account and location, you may be able to:

  • Update profile information from Settings.
  • Adjust profile visibility and communication preferences.
  • Disconnect Discord and — when available — a linked Marvel Rivals game account.
  • Manage notification settings, including Discord notification preferences.
  • Unsubscribe from optional marketing email via the unsubscribe link in those emails.
  • Request access to your information, correction, deletion, a portable copy, or to object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent for consent-based processing and appeal certain privacy-request decisions where applicable law provides that right.

These self-service controls are not currently available. Requests may be submitted through the monitored contact address below at rivena.app@gmail.com. Rivena may need to verify your identity before completing a request and will respond within the period required by applicable law. Authorized agents may submit requests where applicable law permits.

14. Age of use

Rivena is intended for users 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that an ineligible user created an account, we may suspend the account and delete associated information, subject to legal retention requirements. Parents or guardians who believe a minor submitted information may contact rivena.app@gmail.com.

15. Sensitive information

Rivena does not require government identification, medical information, precise location, financial account credentials, or other highly sensitive information as part of an ordinary player profile. Do not post sensitive personal information in profiles, chats, groups, boards, or tournament descriptions. If sensitive information is voluntarily submitted, Rivena will process it only as reasonably necessary to provide, moderate, or secure the relevant feature.

16. Third-party links

Rivena may contain links to Discord servers, organizer websites, game services, streaming platforms, or other third parties. Rivena is not responsible for the privacy or security practices of third-party services. Review their policies before providing information.

17. Changes to this Policy

Rivena may update this Policy to reflect changes to the services, legal requirements, or data practices. We will update the effective and last-updated dates and provide additional notice when changes are material. We will request renewed acknowledgement or consent when required. Rivena will not silently use a policy update to retroactively authorize materially different uses of previously collected information where additional notice or consent is required.
